How has your portfolio done over the last five years, and relative to what?
I thought I'd share the following article by Rob Carrick of The Globe & Mail: "Five Years on: how well have you fared since the financial crisis?" I believe the most important benchmark to measure against, before you start comparing to your neighbors or some market index, is your required return or cash flow need; and this should be based on your unique financial plan which takes into consideration your risk tolerance and investing time horizon.
